Handling a Dental Emergency
Symptoms of a root canal infection often start with pain. If you are experiencing severe pain that can’t be relieved, please call us right away. This may be a sign of a root canal infection or something more serious. But the important thing is that we see you right away to get you the help you need.
Nobody likes the idea of having a tooth extracted. But if we cannot treat the source of pain, we may need to perform an emergency extraction. In this case, you can be sure that our skilled team will be there to encourage and support you every step of the way.
Tooth Knocked Out
A knocked-out tooth is one type of dental emergency that requires immediate attention. First, call us right away, and we will give you instructions for keeping the tooth safe until we see you. If you handle the tooth properly, we may be able to save it. Please note that if this injury involves trauma to your face or jaw, you should call 911 or go directly to an emergency room.
If your dental crown is loose or has fallen out, we may be able to cement it back in place. Handle it carefully, keep it in a safe place, and call our office. Please do not try to cement the tooth back in yourself as this may ruin any chance we have of saving the crown.
If you lose a filling, we will need to replace it. Keep the area around the lost filling clean by rinsing with warm water, but do not brush the tooth. Call our office.
